St Dominics supports the Philippines
It was great to have Father Linus from the Philippines to help us understand the issues and concerns facing the Fillipino people.
Great learning and St Dominics reaching out to others in need.

Maths PD in action
What a great Maths Staff Meeting we had tonight. Loads of great
discussion and all based around what we as teacher need to be doing in order to
meet the needs of our students.
Maths activities and modelling books
were the focus and making sure all teachers are getting these right.
Do the Maths activities match the stage and are Modelling books
child centred and being used as evidence gathering for the OTJ.

Indian Community Evening. What a great evening this was!
Parents mingling at the Indian community evening |
Our little ones waiting for their dinner! |
We shared ideas on what we could do to support our little ones and three of these ideas will happen this year.
We are having a Bollywood disco where we can showcase some of the great dancing that the children love to do. We will get going HINDI language after school for those children that would like to learn this language and it was decided that we will meet regularly each term so that more families can come and strong ties are made between families.
A great result with some great parents.
Hazards in the playground
This week I have been looking into what the hazards in our
school are. It is so important that we are constantly looking at making sure
our children are safe and free from possible hazards that are often overlooked
in the school grounds.
Children will just rush onto a playground and not see what possibility
could go wrong so it is our job as a whole staff to make sure that we are
looking and constantly checking that our equipment and classrooms are free from
possible hazards.
Our caretaker checks the schools ground every morning and
ticks off the areas that are free from hazards. He also deals with any issues
that he sees straight away before he starts his day of school maintenance. Our
teacher also inform him through a daily contact book if they see anything aswell.
A school cant guarantee that children wont hurt them selves
however it can guarantee that it will do it’s best to try and limit that number
of accidents by having a proactive approach to Health and Safety in the school
where all staff are on the lookout.
